Business Strategies for a New World

Hello, world.

jackiea1Hello there! My name is Jackie Arellano and I’m a sophomore majoring in Finance with a minor in Communication Studies. My main passions include music, art, traveling, and fashion. Outside of class, I am involved with many business and volunteering organizations. Overall, I would say I am somewhat of a technology addict. I am proficient with both Windows and Apple computers. Though like I said in class, “Once you go Mac, you can’t go back.” I started using computers heavily when I was around 7 and quickly learned to type up to 147 words per minute. Back in elementary school I learned some HTML and made many music fansites. In the past, I had a strong passion for graphic design so I have experience with Adobe Photoshop and Jasc Paint Shop Pro. I’ve had blogs before on LiveJournal and even Xanga. I also have an iPhone so I am constantly “connected.” I use social networking sites on a daily basis such as Facebook, Twitter (which I only made to follow the band, The Killers), YouTube, and etc. I am a music aficionado and find these sites to be beneficial when trying to keep up to date with the bands I listen to. As I mentioned above, my favorite company is Apple as their innovation is simply unmatched. I chose to take this course because as a business major, the material is extremely relevant as technology is radically evolving and changing our lives. I’m very intrigued by the marketing aspect and know that social media plays a more significant role than ever before. With this course, I hope to expand upon my current knowledge and utilize newfound skills in the near future.
